Creating A Tactic – The Paysandu Way #2

In the last article I spoke about how I prepare for creating a tactic based on a real life team, concept, specific style of play and so on. This article will focus on how I approach creating a tactic based on just an idea I have. To start with, let me explain to you a bit about the idea I had. Creating A Tactic – The Paysandu Way #1

I want to take a step back and talk about creating tactics before we jump ahead with all of the other stuff I have planned. This will be a comprehensive guide focused on designing, creating and maintaining a tactic. Be warned though, this is a very long read and will contain many different parts to it. So if that isn’t up your street you might want to consider tapping out now. Continue reading Creating A Tactic – The Paysandu Way #1

A Rough Diamond

The 4-4-2 narrow diamond is one of my favourite formations ever. That's why for this new project this is the shape I will be focusing on.

One of the biggest issues I’ve seen that a lot of users struggle with on Football Manager, is the relationship between the roles and duties they’ve selected. Some of the examples I’ve seen over the past few months don’t really take into account what the role does, how it links with the rest of the tactic and how it plays out in a game. The Spanish Libero and the Invisible Wall – Part Two

In the last article I gave a brief introduction on the kind of attributes I like the libero to have. In this part of the mini series I’ll be focusing on all the aspect of the libero that either don’t work, hinder the libero’s game or work but not very well. I’ll also be touching on shapes, as some of them are far more accommodating for a libero than others.

The Spanish Libero and the Invisible Wall

I’ve wrote about the Libero a couple of times in the past and it always generates a lot of discussion. However, I’ve never written about it as  in-depth as this article. Not only will I focus on how the Libero works, I will also be discussing what doesn’t and how the role could be changed to be better. There are a lot of issues with the Libero role on Football Manager but the role does work, it’s more that the role could work so much better. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t currently work, it just means we need to learn what the role actually does in Football Manager and what to expect from the exotic role. The Diary of Nigel Martyn

This is the start of a new series written by guest writer @Footy Asian who did another series a few years back. Some of you might remember it as it was about Pierre van Hooijdonk and posted on the old blog. Either way be sure to give him a like or follow if you like what he's written.
