Creating A Tactic – The Paysandu Way #2

In the last article I spoke about how I prepare for creating a tactic based on a real life team, concept, specific style of play and so on. This article will focus on how I approach creating a tactic based on just an idea I have. To start with, let me explain to you a bit about the idea I had. Creating A Tactic – The Paysandu Way #1

I want to take a step back and talk about creating tactics before we jump ahead with all of the other stuff I have planned. This will be a comprehensive guide focused on designing, creating and maintaining a tactic. Be warned though, this is a very long read and will contain many different parts to it. So if that isn’t up your street you might want to consider tapping out now. Continue reading Creating A Tactic – The Paysandu Way #1

A Rough Diamond

The 4-4-2 narrow diamond is one of my favourite formations ever. That's why for this new project this is the shape I will be focusing on.

One of the biggest issues I’ve seen that a lot of users struggle with on Football Manager, is the relationship between the roles and duties they’ve selected. Some of the examples I’ve seen over the past few months don’t really take into account what the role does, how it links with the rest of the tactic and how it plays out in a game. In this article I hope to explore this side of the game more as I create a new tactic from scratch and explain why I pick which roles and showcase how they all function together as a unit. Forged In Steel – Meet David Brooks

For those who have followed me for a while on social media, you’ll have seen me mention David Brooks pretty much constantly for the past two years or so. He’s a special talent and when you see him play you can see. Even in training, he looks head and shoulders above everyone else technically and always has done since he joined the club. That’s not meant as disrespect to the other players, by young David just has an aura about him and looks different gravy with how he uses the ball. He’s technically the best player I’ve ever seen at our academy and I think it comes across that he was developed at a higher level/standard before joining us. Forged In Steel – The Deep-Lying Forward

Understanding the player roles of on Football Manager can be hard to do especially as the descriptions aren’t always the best and can often ignore important factors about what they do or don’t do. So to give you a better idea of the roles and how they function, I’ve decided to write about them. I will be doing this for every role I use in the 3-5-2 that I posted about earlier in the series. People should then get a sense of what to expect from a specific role and allow you to understand the basics of the roles. Which will in turn help you out when deciding which role best suits your needs for the tactic you are creating or the style you are trying to implement. This should make creating tactics a less daunting proposition. Continue reading Forged In Steel – The Deep-Lying Forward

Forged in Steel – Tactics and Recruitment

In this article I will discuss my recruitment strategy and how it all links to the tactic I am currently using. Having a long-term plan and strategy makes it easier for me to squad build and gives me something to aim for. It’s basically what keeps me invested in the current save and adds longevity for me. So let's dive straight into it. Continue reading Forged in Steel – Tactics and Recruitment
